Red lentils or masoor dal as we popularly know it is very rich in nutrients and has soluble fibers that are easy to digest. I am sharing my recipe of Red lentil balls with Red chili garlic dip with you all. This recipe can be used a side dish during house parties or served as evening snack as well.
Ingredients-
For Red lentil Balls-
2 cups of Red lentil (masoor dal, splitted, soaked and husk free)
6 tbsp of mustard oil ( you can use any other oil but mustard oil will give it that earthy feel)
1/4 tsp of cumin seeds
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
1/2 tsp of red chili powder
1/2 tsp of coriander powder
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of green chili chopped
1 tsp of graded ginger
1 tbsp chopped green coriander
For Red chili garlic dip-
2 pickled Red chili with stuffing
6 cloves of garlic
2 medium sized tomato
(no need to add salt because pickled chili have already salt)
Method-
For Red lentil or masoor dal balls-
Take lentils in a grinding jar and make a thick paste, now take a deep nonstick pan or wok add 4 tbsp of oil, then add cumin seeds, turmeric,red chili and coriander powders and add grinded lentil to it , then add chopped green chili, graded ginger and salt and stir till oil separates then add green coriander and keep it aside to let it cool a little, but it should not become cold otherwise balls will not form, when all balls are made take another pan and add 2 tbsp of oil and put all the balls in it and shallow fry it till they become litte crisp.
TIP- You can make balls before a day if you are making it for guest and shallow fry them the other day, it will save your time.
For Red chili garlic dip-
Take all the above ingredients in a grinder and gring it into a coarse paste with little bit of water and serve with the dish.. You can use this dip with other snacks also.
